The Emotional Scale

I have received a lot of emails and comments asking about the emotional scale that I mentioned in my prior post. Although many people have incorporated the use of an emotional scale in their work, the one that I think shows the greatest detail is presented by Abraham in the book “Ask and it is Given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks (pg 114). It is an excellent book to have in your library. I have included the scale here:

The Emotional Scale

  1. Joy/Appreciation/Empowered/Freedom/Love
  2. Passion
  3. Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
  4. Positive Expectation/Belief
  5. Optimism
  6. Hopefulness
  7. Contentment
  8. Boredom
  9. Pessimism
  10. Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
  11. “Overwhelment”
  12.  Disappointment
  13.  Doubt
  14.  Worry
  15.  Blame
  16. Discouragement
  17. Anger
  18. Revenge
  19. Hatred/Rage
  20. Jealousy
  21. Insecurity/guilt/Unworthiness
  22. Fear/Grief/Depression/Despair/Powerlessness

You can see that at the #20 – 22, most people would be paralyzed into non-action. Above that action towards your goal can usually be taken and the higher the emotion you can reach for on the scale, the more likely it is that you will consider an action that is beneficial to you rather than in reaction to another. What I would wish for everyone who reads this is that you  live mostly from levels #7 up to #1.

Be well and blessed

I have always been wary of the pseudo-texts that fly about the reading circles in the name of self-help books. Most of them just pick words off ancient texts and put it forward as a thought process discovered by the new author in town. Not so about this book, “Ask and it is Given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks. I was really impressed by the amount of wisdom it holds, and mostly practical to the core. I am glad that your page opted to feature one of the most interesting concepts portrayed in the book as I see it. Excellent choice!
